waterproof and breathable - a good commuter combo

I normally wear a 9-12 narrow - the 9 was fine as the laces have good coverage and there is lots of toe room. Obey the torque recommendations for the cleat screws - I didn't and stripped one of the backing plates at a I thought relatively gentle twist. Since this was for SPD I used the second set of threads in the backing plate and also bought the SIDI plates just in case.

They didn't feel hot when it was 99 deg F out, and were waterproof until the rain ran down from my legs to the inside. The clunky rubber soles have reasonable traction and keep the SPD cleats from most contact with floors - but some contact will occur. It would be nice if there was a place to easily tuck the laces, but the usual spots beside the tongue work OK. I'm happiest with the breathability.
