I confess, I loved these right out of the box. The 2011 model has a rubber shield in front of the shoe to prevent scuffing. I use these on my road bike. I upgraded from the very comfortable and durable Pearl Izumi x-Alps because I wanted a stiffer sole for longer rides. I confess, I only have about 100 miles on the shoe so far and I am still working on cleat position and breaking them in etc. These aren't replacements yet, they are for the more serious rides. But, I love these shoes. I love how they look and feel. I look like a real cyclist when I wear them. They are comfortable and really wrap well around your feet. They have good support and the sole is stiff so I am ultimately hoping for a more efficient transfer of power to the pedal. They do feel a little heavier though by specs, they are not. Toe spikes add some unnecessary (but barely noticeable) weight. They are after all, mtn bike shoes that I am adapting to my road bike (SPD pedals). Because they feel a little different, my riding style may change to adapt. They are true to size. I wear a 7.5 (US) and was pleasantly surprised when they fit perfectly. I was expecting to have to go up a size. All n all, I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
